Local musicians Eric Ian Farmer, Ady Martinez, and Naty Martinez offer a blend of songs across decades and languages — mainly, English and Spanish but they also sneak a Swahili song in there — from Valerie to Vivir Mi Vida, Tonada De Luna Llena to Lean On Me, and their own rendition of Malaika. State College-born and North Carolina-bred singer/songwriter Eric Ian Farmer collaborates with an array of local musicians, and he recently performed in a 7-piece as Eric Ian Farmer & Friends for WPSU’s The Local Groove Presents. Ady Martinez (born Adianez Milaris Martinez) is a cuatro player, known through her distinctive style of Latin-inspired music. Fronting a local outfit, Ady’s Latin Band, she hails from La Guaira, on the coast of Venezuela, and is of Afro-Venezuelan, Spanish, and Indigenous Venezuelan ancestry.Naty Martinez, who comes from a family of singers and percussionists, is a Venezuelan musician living in State College whose style reflects a mix of traditional Latin music and her love for jazz and R&B.
