The Jive Bombers

December 31, 2019 @ 9:30 pm - 10:30 pm

Jerry Zolten and Richard Sleigh have been making music together under their guise as The Jive Bombers for more than 35 years, and along the way performing with artists as diverse as Bo Diddley and Dom Flemons. Their music runs the roots music gamut from blues and swing to folk and rock-a-billy.

Sleigh is one of the region’s premier musicians, an ace at what he calls “Hot Rod Harmonica.” He is an in demand support musician who has created music for theater productions, movie soundtracks, and numerous recording sessions. Sleigh is also affiliated with Hohner Harmonicas as an “official” customizer.

Zolten, long active on the local and national music scene, is a roots music author and producer, musician, and fanatic collector of rare records. Most recently, he contributed to Ken Burn’s PBS documentary Country Music and co-produced and narrated the public radio program Time to Lay It Down: The Soundtrack of the Vietnam War. Zolten worked regionally with R&B groups Body & Soul and Code:Blue.
