DESCRIPTION:When Code Blue debuted in the early 1990s it was a trailblazing State College band that offered a mix of soul and blues\, covers and originals. With the 1993 release of its album Stages/Then and Now\, the band picked up the pace and toured regionally. It shared billing with Billy Price and Otis Clay at The Decade in Pittsburgh\, with Queen Bee and the Blue Hornet Band at the Chameleon in Lancaster\, and at the Philadelphia River Blues Fest featuring headliner Al Green. This First Night appearance reunites original vocalists Terri Parker and Rene Oakman\, lead guitar Chris Younken\, bassist Harry Werner\, drummer John Raiser\, and “glue” guitar Jerry Zolten. DESCRIPTION:The flute choir Toot-in-Common was founded by State College flutist Judy Moore\, who is also the ensemble’s director\, in 2006. DESCRIPTION:The Guitar Brothers—Jon Rounds\, Bruce Truitt\, Jerry Bresee—are a trio of seasoned musicians and songwriters who found each other in State College in 2021 after many years playing music in far-flung places. Jam sessions evolved into rehearsals\, and a sound emerged featuring original music with a studied interplay between guitars and electric bass. DESCRIPTION:Robert Mac is a comedian and “motivational humorist” from Washington DC\, a city that has a desperate need for humor. He’s best known as the Grand Prize Winner of Comedy Central’s national Laugh Riots competition and for his appearances on NBC’s Last Comic Standing. Mac has been seen on the stages of the inaugural Great American Comedy Festival\, the Boston Comedy Festival\, Montreal’s Just for Laughs Festival\, and other highly acclaimed events throughout the country. \nMac created a comedy slash history slash game-show walking tour business in San Francisco\, a much funnier city than Washington DC. DESCRIPTION:Reared in the Catskill Mountain resorts of New York\, Alan Sands began traveling with his father\, magician George Sands when he was three years old. By age six years old\, Sands was entertaining audiences. He won his first talent contest at age the age of 12\, and he began performing professionally at 17. In the years since\, he has performed at colleges and universities all over the country. You’ll see right away that there’s so much more to his show than a swinging pocket watch and the chant “You are getting sleepy….”  The comment most often heard after an Alan Sands show is “I laughed so hard it hurt”! DESCRIPTION:Cellist Kim Cook has performed as a soloist in 30 countries in Europe\, Asia\, the Middle East\, and Latin American.  She has toured as Artistic Ambassador for the U.S. State Department\, presenting concerts and master classes internationally. She has received critical acclaim for her recordings\, recorded with orchestras in Russia\, Bulgaria\, and the Czech Republic. She has performed recitals at New York’s Carnegie Hall and London’s Wigmore Hall and at conservatories in Paris\, Melbourne\, Jerusalem\, and Beijing. Recently\, she performed as a soloist with orchestras in Croatia\, Argentina\, and Brazil. \nA graduate of Yale and the University of Illinois\, Cook was named the inaugural Penn State Laureate and is currently Distinguished Professor of Music. \n  \n  \nJonathan Gangi holds the position of Associate Professor of Music (Guitar) & Arts Entrepreneurship at The Pennsylvania State University. He is the founding director of the guitar program at the Penn State School of Music\, teaching classical guitar and coaching chamber music. As an artist\, performances include the Raleigh Civic Chamber Orchestra as guest soloist for Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez\, the Rantucci International Guitar Festival\, the ‘Classical Minds’ Guitar Festival\, the Italian Guitar Campus\, and the Conservatory of Music Santa Cecilia International Guitar Festival in Rome. \n A First Night Button is required for this performance.
