Celebrate New Year's Eve in Downtown State College

First Night State College takes place in downtown State College, Pennsylvania and on adjacent University Park campus of The Pennsylvania State University on December 31, 2013.

Where to Stay - Hotels Guide

Come downtown to check out the ice sculptures in front of downtown businesses, on the Mayor Welch Plaza, NS in Sidney Friedman Park. And of course, don’t miss the ice walls on South Allen Street.

Take in a musical performance—or two, or three! We have something for every musical taste, from classical to rock, including bluegrass, folk, and jazz.  First Night is a great time to see the State College Area High School Thespians as they perform their way to a trip to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in the summer of 2014.  We have great comedians and jugglers this year, including Jonathan Burns, Hilby, and Joe Holliday.

After grabbing a bite to eat, you’ll probably feel just a tad romantic—the perfect time for a carriage ride through downtown!

Be sure to sign up for our more popular than ever 5K Resolution Run, too! (It’s even more fun if you wear a costume!) And if that’s not enough exercise, take the CATA While Loop to the brand new Pegula Ice Arena for an evening of ice skating!

Your First Night button is your ticket to about 30 great performances!  Pick yours up at area merchants or order them online now!

And by all means, stay the night! Lots of State College hotels are offering packages this
year.

No matter what events you chose to attend, First Night State College is a great time for the whole family!
